What’s inside each level

  1. Cover: the gymnast’s name, gym, season and coach; what Learning, Consistent and Meet-ready mean; the level’s minimum age and progression requirements.
  2. Vault: the level’s vault progression and checkpoints to discuss with the coach.
  3. Bars, beam and floor: major skills grouped by type, selected illustrations, brief coaching reminders, three progress boxes and a date.
  4. Season: goals for each event, a meet log for scores, and what the next level needs.
  5. Wall chart: a one-page record of coach-confirmed progress on the major skills.

Who it’s for

Parents of gymnasts in USA Gymnastics’ Women’s Development Program, compulsory Levels 1 to 5. It’s also a friendly way for new gym parents to recognize the major skills. It does not cover Xcel or the optional Levels 6–10.

This is a progress record, not a complete routine script or instructions for unsupervised practice. Illustrations are skill reminders; follow your gymnast’s coach for technique, equipment and matting. The coach decides when a gymnast is ready for competition or the next level.

Up to date, and in our own words

The checklists follow the USA Gymnastics Women’s Development Program compulsory exercises (2021–2029 cycle, including the July 2026 update). Minimum ages and move-up scores follow the 2026–27 Rules & Policies. Reviewed on 21 October 2026; every page shows its version. The illustrations and notes are our own, and no routine text is copied.

This is an unofficial guide: Gymnast Gem is not affiliated with or endorsed by USA Gymnastics. For free details on each level, see our guides to Level 1, Level 2, Level 3, Level 4 and Level 5.
