Two team members, Hezly Rivera and Paul Juda, have no official height published anywhere we could find. We’ve left those cells empty rather than guess.

Every height below comes from an official listing, a college roster or a Team USA profile, named with its season where it has one. Ages are the gymnasts’ ages at the Games, and each team has a short summary of what it won in Paris.

U.S. Women’s Olympic Team Heights (Paris 2024)

The women’s team was Simone Biles, Jade Carey, Jordan Chiles, Sunisa Lee and Hezly Rivera. Leanne Wong and Joscelyn Roberson traveled to Paris as replacement athletes (USA Gymnastics team announcement).

Joscelyn Roberson (traveling replacement)4′8″142.2Georgia roster, 2027 season18

Heights checked 6 October 2026. Centimeters use 2.54 cm per inch. Ages are on 30 July 2024, the day of the women’s team final.

Of the four team members with a listed height, Carey is the tallest and Biles the shortest, a spread of six inches (15.2 cm). Chiles is 4′11″, not 5′5″ as some websites, including an older version of this page, have claimed. Roberson’s 4′8″ comes from Georgia’s 2027 roster, after her transfer from Arkansas, whose roster listed no height.

What the U.S. women won in Paris

The U.S. won the team final with 171.296, ahead of Italy and Brazil (official team final results). Individual medals come from the Paris 2024 results book.

Simone BilesGold: team, all-around, vault. Silver: floor

Jade CareyGold: team. Bronze: vault
Jordan ChilesGold: team. Also reached the floor final
Hezly RiveraGold: team. Competed on bars and beam in qualification
Leanne Wong, Joscelyn RobersonTraveling replacement athletes; did not compete

Biles left Paris with 11 Olympic medals across her career, seven of them gold (Olympedia).

Rivera, at 16 the youngest on the team, scored 13.900 on bars and 12.633 on beam in qualification. She didn’t compete in the team final, where only three gymnasts per team compete on each event and all three scores count. She still received a gold medal as a team member. Our guide to how gymnastics team scores are calculated explains the format.

Chiles was first awarded floor bronze. After a Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) ruling, the IOC reassigned that medal to Romania’s Ana Bărbosu. In January 2026, Switzerland’s supreme court sent the case back to CAS for a new review, so the final result was still open at the time of writing (AP, via WTOP).

U.S. Men’s Olympic Team Heights (Paris 2024)

The men’s team was Asher Hong, Paul Juda, Brody Malone, Stephen Nedoroscik and Fred (Frederick) Richard, with Khoi Young and Shane Wiskus as traveling alternates (Gymnastics Now). Yul Moldauer, listed in an earlier version of this page, was not on the Paris team.

The four listed heights span four inches (10.2 cm). Hong, at 5′1″, is the shortest listed man, shorter than Carey on the women’s team.

What the U.S. men won in Paris

The U.S. men won team bronze with 257.793, behind Japan and China (official team final results). It was their first Olympic team medal since 2008 (NPR).

Malone didn’t win an individual medal in Paris: the high bar medals went to Shinnosuke Oka, Ángel Barajas and Zhang Boheng (results book). The all-around places for Juda and Richard are from the official all-around final results, as USA Gymnastics reported.

Team Averages, and Why Some Sources Disagree

With one height missing on each team, an average can only use the four listed heights:

TeamListed heights usedAverage
U.S. women (Biles, Chiles, Lee, Carey)4 of 54′11¼″ (150.5 cm)
U.S. men (Malone, Richard, Nedoroscik, Hong)4 of 55′3¾″ (161.9 cm)

Dividing by five would treat the missing height as zero, so we divide by four. These are simple averages of roster listings, not measurements taken at the Games.

For context, a study of the whole Olympic field at Rio 2016 found average heights of 154.6 cm for women and 167.1 cm for men (Atiković, 2020, Table I). Four people from one country can’t show a trend, but both U.S. averages sit below those figures.

Listed heights also vary between sources. Olympedia, a reference site rather than an official one, gives Malone 168 cm where Team USA and Stanford list 5′5″ (165.1 cm), and Biles 143 cm against Team USA’s 4′8″ (142.2 cm). Roster heights are rounded to the inch, and a roster edition shows when it was published, not when the athlete was measured. We use the official listing and name it.

Heights of Other U.S. Elite Women

Several U.S. elite women who weren’t on the Paris competition team also have official listed heights:

GymnastListed heightCentimetersSource used
Tiana Sumanasekera5′1″154.9UCLA roster, 2027 season
Shilese Jones5′3″160.0Team USA athlete profile
Skye Blakely5′4″162.6Florida roster, 2026 season
Kayla DiCello5′4″162.6Florida roster, 2026 season

Heights checked 7 October 2026. Jones, Blakely and DiCello are all taller than every Paris team member with a listed height. Across these recent U.S. elite women, listed heights run from Biles’s 4′8″ to 5′4″, a spread of eight inches (20.3 cm).

Does Height Decide Which Events a Gymnast Does?

No rule links height to events, and none sets a height limit. The FIG Technical Regulations 2026 set age rules for senior competition, not size rules, and judges score the routine, not the athlete’s height.

The Paris teams show how loose the link is. The women’s vault gold and vault bronze went to the shortest and the tallest of the four team members with a listed height. On the men’s side, the pommel horse medalist sits in the middle of the team’s range. Event choice comes from a gymnast’s skills, training and team needs, which a height chart can’t capture.
